FAQ
Everything you need to know about our urns, materials, and process. Can't find your answer? Contact us — we typically respond within one business day.
Sizing & Capacity
What size urn do I need?
A general guideline: one pound of body weight before cremation equals approximately one cubic inch of cremated remains. Our Keepsake (~32 in³) holds up to 20 lbs, and our Standard (~385 in³) holds up to 300 lbs. When in doubt, size up — it's better to have more room than not enough.
Can I use a keepsake urn alongside a standard one?
Absolutely. Many families choose a standard urn as the primary vessel and one or more keepsake urns so each family member can keep a small portion close. We offer bundles for exactly this purpose — a standard urn plus keepsakes, or multiple keepsakes to share among loved ones.
What are the exact dimensions?
Keepsake: 3.17″ × 3.17″ × 3.15″ (~32 in³, up to 20 lbs) · Standard: 7.29″ × 7.29″ × 7.24″ (~385 in³, up to 300 lbs). We also offer Small and Medium sizes — visit our size explorer to compare all four side by side.
Colors & Customization
What colors are available?
We carry our best-selling colors — Cotton White, Charcoal Black, Marble White, and Sakura Pink — in stock and ready to ship. We also offer an extended palette of additional colors for approximately $20 more, as we order specialty filament for those. Use our color explorer to preview all options on the actual urn.
How long do custom colors take?
In-stock colors (White, Black, Marble, Pink) ship within 1–2 business days. Custom colors from our extended palette may take an additional 3–5 business days while we source and prepare the specialty filament. We'll always confirm your timeline before processing.
Can the urn be personalized?
Yes. We offer engraving personalization — a name, dates, a short message, or a simple design. Select the personalization option when ordering and include your text in the notes field, or contact us and we'll walk you through it.
Materials & Environment
What are your urns made from?
Our urns are made using additive manufacturing (3D printing) with locally sourced materials here in Lexington, Kentucky. Every material choice is made with environmental impact in mind — no heavy metals, no synthetic coatings that would prevent a natural return to the earth.
Are Kind Memorials urns suitable for green burial?
Yes. Every urn in our collection is Green Burial Council certified, meaning they meet strict environmental standards and are approved for natural, earth-friendly interment.
Can the urn be buried or scattered at sea?
Yes to both. Our urns are designed for in-home display, burial, or scattering ceremonies. For scattering at sea, we recommend checking local regulations. Feel free to contact us with any specific questions.
Orders, Shipping & Bundles
What bundles do you offer?
We offer two bundle options: a Standard + Keepsake bundle (for families who want a primary urn and a keepsake to keep close), and a multiple-keepsake bundle (for families who want to share ashes among several loved ones). Bundle pricing is shown on the product page.
How quickly will I receive my order?
In-stock color orders are processed within 1–2 business days and typically arrive within 3–5 business days via USPS or UPS. Expedited shipping is available at checkout. We understand time is often of the essence and do our best to move quickly.
What is your return policy?
Because of the personal nature of our products, we handle each return or exchange request individually. If you have any concern with your order, please reach out within 14 days of receipt and we will make it right.
